Jon Mallin is an attorney with many years of experience in corporate and securities law. He began his career in Dewey Ballantine’s New York office and worked in the Corporate Mergers & Acquisitions practice group, primarily for publicly traded companies. After Dewey, Mr. Mallin worked in the Transactions & Securities Law department of Foley & Lardner’s Detroit office. Mr. Mallin helped to develop the Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) sub-specialty at Foley & Lardner. He was an integral member of the team that registered the first ETF to track foreign currency, the Rydex Euro Currency Trust. He was honored to participate in the opening bell ring at the NYSE to celebrate the IPO of the Euro ETF in December 2005. Mr. Mallin subsequently registered additional currency ETFs covering most of the major world currencies. In addition to currency products, Mr. Mallin was a member of a small team of attorneys that worked on the first actively managed ETF that was registered with the SEC and declared effective. In addition to his six years of large law firm experience, Mr. Mallin worked as in-house securities law counsel to Five Hour Energy and billionaire philanthropist Manoj Bhargava’s other ventures, including SI Capital, his family wealth management office.
Mr. Mallin received his B.A. with High Distinction in Political Science from the University of Michigan. Mr. Mallin continued his education at New York University School of Law, where he earned his J.D. At NYU Law, Mr. Mallin was honored to be an elected board member and the online editor of the NYU Journal of International Law & Politics. Mr. Mallin is a member of the state bars of Michigan and New York.
